I decided I wanted to do a piece on these things since I've been having many one sided conversations with them. For quite awhile I wasn't saying thank you at the end because lets face it, they mainly just bug Me. I should probably do this:Make a list of all of the reasons why a person may not be able to take a call
(e.g., she's out of the office, he's on another line, etc.). When
you do take a call, be sure to repeat the caller's name, number, and message
before you hang up to confirm that you have the correct information.
Lately I haven't had the time to do anything like that, looking for a job most of the time these people never call back it's pretty lame.
Practice this conversation with a partner. Then write your own telephone conversation by using some of the phrases you came up with in the prelistening activity.
Probably the toughest conversation I've had lately I had to tell this professional guy what My problems with him were on his answering machine, sticky.
So in the meantime I'm enjoying My 12 hour break from this machine.
