Made it

I did actually make it to the gym finally as always its the getting down there that's the tough part. I was doing intervals and I don't know what it was, probably the frustration with this girl but I started running on the running track. I haven't ran since hi school gym class, I smoked then and I smoked a ton since let Me put it that way. I suprised Myself though all the extended distance riding has helped Me stamina a lot. So that went well, I burned through a ton of water compared to what I usually do.
On the way out there was some 20 something trying to pick up on Me to no avail, I don't know what it is but I don't even have the hook up words in My vocabulary. Than in the old as soon as you're off the market all these women try to move in on you. She asked Me which way i was going(gay or strait) which I didn't even pick up on, I said "I'll be waiting here for awhile" funny.
Christmas,

I was going to post a picture of My Christmas tree which is really nice, My brother is at My parents house though and I'm trying to avoid him, along with most of My family. I got a bass guitar which I was going to post a picture of also, I got it back in October to avoid the temperature change guitar problems. Looks like it will be an alright brown Christmas.

Update

Some of you might be wondering if I'm doing any winter training, ok probably not but anyways I've haven't. I lost My momentum when I realized My boxing equipment was in shambles which in some ways isn't a bad thing. I was also hoping to find a workout partner but she has been indisposed. I was going to go to the gym and do some rowing(that machines got popular) but I've been suffering from superfluous headaches this week.

flag ride

I managed to ride 43 miles on friday, the bike trail was in shambles there was a little gravel travel and highwayman stuff, then I took to the sidewalk. I had american flags slappin Me in the face although I tried to avoid some, none the less it was a pretty good ride but pretty lonely.
Also, a sidenote I didn't wear tights although I probably could've I forgot half My water too and got disani. So I ended up at a kum n' go about mile 37 with five bucks wondering what could give Me a glucose recharge. What followed was a starchy funyun primordial feeding sitting half in a oil puddle outside this kum n' go. I was glad to inxs My longest distance becuase this is My last ride of the season. Update

I haven't rode recently at all I did have a heart felt talk with My new friend Pat about cycling. Mainly not being in the physical condition to complete goals in cycling, and I guess I did more bike riding this summer than someone. He I guess, is a recreational rider and I am a recreational rider who occasionally day tours as it stands now. It's not that I wouldn't like to go further with it but right now My health isn't good enough, and He shared those sentiments.
Hopefully I get the chance to ride with him anyways, since My last post I've moved so you'll see Me post less content without internet access of My own. Also since I have no place to store My bikes the move hasn't been good for Me as a cyclist all together, and will make riding tough. I poked around the leaders park project and a lot of progress has been made there, well until next time.

I did a long ride today to get My mind off things. The wind was really blowing so I rode inside the city, which meant a lot of car dodging. I got the ride and the extension done, but it wasn't to fun with the cold weather and 5:00 traffic. This was a grueling ride and considering My road rash a difficult ride also.





But I wanted to get this ride done before the end of July. I consequently saved this ride from obscurity by re-doing the mapmyride.com map.(why not?) No mishaps like the broken spoke last year on this ride, however I did do it backwards to make it more fat burning. I did a lot of sweating, and I'm not sure how the recuperation of My two bad legs will go.

Ride FAIL

I was headed out on a 15 mile ride and ran into problems with My tire pressure which ended
up being valve problems. As with any mechanical incident the sweat started running like mad, and I headed home. I was able to repair the bike with tubes from the pile in My room.

This was My recovery ride, & I was definitely still feeling the ride Saturday, stretching helped though. I'm having a personal debate about whether I'm going to check out three early hours of jazzfest later in the week. The first point being the cost of things and My steak dinner on Sat, two being not wanting to run into any bastards there either. And My continuing personal debate if I even want to play music anymore, I still write good songs but it seems like an expense that I could lose these days, save the hearing. Also I have hardly met any decent people playing music. This is the first time I've thought about quitting this seriously, music has been a big part of My life, and in the past jazzfest often would re-spark My interest. I can't even get any money for any of my guitars or gear. B-(
On this ride My new jersey and camelbak kept Me cool in spite of the stifling heat, I'm not going to post a repetitive picture. I saw a huge traffic jam on kiwanis, glad I wasn't driving. Stats: time 1:41 Avg 13mph! Max 28.5

Yesterday I rode the Lewis & Clark, Yankton trail system, Yankton is one of the most boring places on planet earth in My opinion. Also I've decided not to plague you with high water pics, I never liked high waters when I was in the underground. Also they've been showing them on weather channel an such.
This isn't from the bike ride.
I rode past this wedding, or dress rehearsal if you look closely you can see the bride. At one time I wanted to get married at this location, I won't get into the eccentricity of the last woman I was involved with. After awhile I threw the idea out as too lame, on the way back it looked like the wedding was over.
This place is full of memory's of times spent with My cousin which I was close to & his family. As I grew into an adult or rather didn't grow into an adult, he started a family and I continued to use drugs. So now a days I can kind of lament at My bad decision making back then as I have a splintered relationship with My family & no family of My own. This picture shows Me getting into the seedy underbelly of Yankton and a few minutes after this I grinded My gears really bad.This pic is of a bridge that was closed for safety reasons and that's a good thing.I did get lost on this ride kind of bad, to complete the Yankton trail system you have to ride down main street. Sunday night by Myself, while everyone was doing the whole family thing, so I decided to take a night ride around the bike lanes. This ride was pretty cool with all the explosions an fireworks and what not. Plus I have this fear of getting fireworks shot at Me sense that happend on one occasion when I was young, so it was like speed. I also took quite a few pictures over the holiday which I might add in a later post. I rode hard but the next day I felt like I over extended Myself, in spite of My regiment of stretches.
Partially for that reason I might be letting go of some mountain bike gear, stay tuned.

Suntan lotion started burning My retinas(it was no-add 50 :-P) I actually had to stop riding for five minutes today. They re-opened a section of bike trail by the mall. I was glad I had eye protection today as the wind was blowing up a lot of dust around the quarry. On this ride I rode the Spirit lake/Okoboji trail system, which was a disaster but it was a cool looking disaster.Just to show I was in Iowa in case you all were wondering, from here on out location, cycling edicate, traffic laws, the laws of nature no longer exist. I mean why have a bike trail when you can have a private entrance to your all inclusive golf community, enclave?

Soon after this ride shot the problems started as a detour and turns to nowhere sent Me gallavanting across parking lots, parks, & highways. Not to mention the traffic, which there was a fair amount which is probably what messed it up the most for Me, it was like I never left. Also a great deal of the trail markers were spray painted arrows on the ground, if you ended up on a bike route you're f*****.(not literally)

Some of us drive sports cars, some of drive truck for a living, and some of us ride bicycles a long ass ways. I decided to do a tough day of cycling, the wind was howling and I had to change My outer layer 3 times. Eventually I just lost the leg warmers.


I didn't see to much weird dumped stuff; a pregnancy test, the main wiring of a car, and lots and lots of beer cans.
This is the hartford park(no I don't know the real name, it looks pretty wet) I did quite a bit of hanging out here in My lifetime sense the skatepark had a no helmet rule. Athough I didn't really skateboard.

First group ride

I rode about five blocks with the local cycling club f.a.b. in honor of this dude, I think his name was James. I'm kind of an idiot whatever, anyways Micheal C. who led the ride is a nice guy. The ride went ok not good or bad, most of it I was concentrating on riding on someones wheel. And I got in a group with two dudes that got dropped off the back, pretty lame yada yada yada. I was in the group for a few blocks, the flashing light from all the light kits(because this was at 8:30 at night) will definitely stick with Me.
After that it was a lot of standing around I didn't know the prayer "vigil" started at 9:30 standing in cycling shoes sucks. I was one of three people in My twenties, for Me this is just a hobby I believe I showed enough conventions. I held this ladies hand I think she was his sister and I told her I was sorry, this whole riding bikes for someone who got killed riding a bike I don't know how I feel on it. I had to kind of look at it like deep down she might kind of hate this right now.
I guess I used this as an excuse to check out the group ride atmosphere, kind of dumb of Me. To be truthful I can't even really afford it right now.

Ghost bike

I barely heard about the last bike accident this was weird, I rode down this block a week ago twice here. http://tonybikes.blogspot.com/2011/05/532011-41miles.html Also all the times I've almost gotten hit recently riding and brushed it off these near misses, as I call them. I was thinking about taking a picture of the ghost bike but I decided it wasn't something I wanted to shoot, _even I can't turn this into a joke. I guess the group ride is probably on for Me, I guess this gave Me the push I needed and as someone put it "-the ride of silence takes on a whole new meaning now." I decided to play home sweet home someone with children too, ok I'll shut up.

In other news I broke a pedal again and had to replace that.

Patching FAIL

I got a flat on My subpar cruiser oddly enough on a ride to donate money. One of those freak flats from a roofing staple, I didn't have My phone so yes I had to do some walking. I never did get the money donated either, one hole was a round pin hole which I used a glueless patch on, the other was a diagonal tear I used a glue on kit. I guess I could mention the tire was fine but unfortunately My patching failed(I've been thinking maybe I should've got rubber cement{*For tire patching, shoe repair, and other industrial applications}) and leaked at the middle, maybe I could have cut the glueless patch and made it work, oh well.
The main difficulty was from the tire being 700 x 45c which when I looked before has been pretty hard to find. However I was able to get a couple fairly easy so the troubles of that ended.

These are the pre-ride caleries I crammed, the second sandwich I ate half way through the ride. It wasn't very nice out but I did get to try My new cycling gloves the second half of the ride, the wind was strong but sparse. I had to do a pretty long skid to avoid getting smoked by a caddilac who thought he owned the road, so I did have a 'near miss."

Update

I've noticed that posting has fallen off, even though the weather has only marginally improved. On that subject I'm pretty steamed at My picasa image hosting which at first seemed to handle My upgrade well, but now My blog broke bad. So I've got a whole lot of useless images from the last couple years that aren't being used for anything. Or take a whole lot of time to fix every picture in here, and I'm tempted just to start from scratch but then again I still have text.

As far as riding go's I've as usual pulled in some stray miles I don't feel like counting, on My subpar bike.

Which is rather clunky but sence I got a brand new bike stolen at jazzfest,(one year) I'm ultra
paranoid of bike thieves. None the less I paid a visit to leaders park
and did some poking around, it's definitely goat country. Twards the end of My last mountain biking career I was having to take My pulse alot, so I don't know if I'll ever be riding it. I found some tracks of what I thought was a badger, and after some deliberation ended up being a bobcat.
A little about My goals; quite a few of them for this summer flew out the window, like the bike camping. Probably the group rides too, I'm still enjoying riding at My slow pace to keep My weight under control though.
